Every project represents a different set of requests, emphases and goals that the client has communicated to me for the site. Working with graphics and content provided--and creating graphics as need arises--my aim is always to create an attractive site that visitors find easy-to-use. Would you like me on your team? Feel free to contact me discuss your project.

Grumpy Old Men

Here's an example of a budget-conscious project.  With a nice logo and graphics provided by the band, a simple set of content, and a determination to stay close to the styles set in an existing professional Wordpress theme from StudioPress, the site gets the job done at a musician-friendly price.

Act of Congress

2012 started with a fresher, more updatable website for this Birmingham Alabama musical group.  The site is built on the Joomla 1.7 framework using a highly customized pro template.  It includes a music player, event list, gallery, integrated Youtube playlist, Twitter feed, Reverbnation widgets, and a simple shopping cart.

Sean Watkins

Freshening up a website after a few years of faithful service -- well, that's just part of having a website.  Sean and I looked things over and made a few changes -- added a twitter feed, simplified some things and added a podcast section.  This is a Wordpress site.

Larry Conger, Dulcimerican Music

The mission: bring the solid core content of an older site into a CMS framework so the owners can update the site themselves.  Along the way the site appearance was updated with earthier colors and textures.  Included in this site was a small shopping cart which can also be managed "in house".

Rolling Hills Nursery & Garden Center

The mission: redevelop an older site in a way that clearly showcases the various facets of their business and makes it easy for the staff to update.

AISK

The mission: rescue an existing Joomla website which had been buried under a mishmash of ill-fitting content, and re-customize its template to suit the vision of the special projects director at this private school.

S. E. Thile Handmade Pipes

This 2010 upgrade from my previous design features a new approach to the pipe catalog, a slideshow on the front page to show off new pipes, the incorporation of social media like the Twitter feed, the Facebook "like" facility and comments allowed on blog posts.

Grace Episcopal Church

This church puts a premium on keeping its website updated, so I was asked to upgrade their existing site to a content management system.   Now the church staff can update the news items and easily add the latest sermon audio files.  The site is built on Joomla 1.5 and a highly customized professional template.

Mollie O'brien

Mollie O'Brien's new site highlights a new album, Saints & Sinners -- but the design elements are not keyed specifically to the album cover graphics - in hopes that the site will harmonize well with future albums.  The site includes a music player, tour date calendar, and mailing list subscriber linked to Mailchimp (I highly recommend mailchimp.com if you are looking for a mailing list solution.)  Her albums are for sale using Paypal buttons and links to iTunes and feature song samples next to the album track lists.

Kenny and Amanda Smith

Husband-and-wife bluegrass team Kenny and Amanda Smith came to me with a wonderful silhouette photo in hand, and the idea to use it as the background for their new website. I loved the challenge and we all love the result. A highly customized pro template was used over the Joomla 1.5 framework, and a simple shopping cart and music player were added, customized to match the site.

Michael William Gilbert, Composer

This website highlights this composer's recordings. A highly customized pro template was used over the Joomla framework, and a music player, customized to match the site's design, was added.

Rockin' Acoustic Circus

In 2008 I developed a Joomla content management site for Rockin' Acoustic Circus and in January of 2010, with a brand new album coming out and a great touring season lined up, they wanted me to give the site a make-over to reflect the new album art and promo photos that they had done in anticipation of its release. The location photos really help define the new look of the website. I also redesigned the music player to coordinate with the new album art.

Christian Community Church

The 2010 redesign of the site I created for Christian Community Church back in 2002 welcomes and provides information to potential church visitors and allows members to listen again to the latest sermon.   The old site was a static site that required geeky know-how in order keep it up to date; the new site is powered by the latest Joomla content management system which allows volunteers to log in and add a new event or post an mp3 of the latest sermon.  Features include an Upcoming Events module, a podcast publishing module, and integration with a Google calendar.

L'Angelus

L'Angelus is a high-energy Cajun fiddle band whose existing website needed to be revamped and updated to reflect this band's readiness to take on the world. The latest Joomla installation empowers their dad/manager to update the site. Special features include easy-to-add video players, a music player, a shopping cart, and a photo gallery.

Jonathan Singleton and the Grove

The website helps fans connect to the band of successful Nashville songwriter, Jonathan Singleton.  It's a Joomla installation with a highly customized pro template. Special features include a Twitter feed, a music player, a feed of the band's latest Youtube videos, a photo gallery and a free song promotion (through the band's record label.)

Gallery 109 & Fairbanks Studio

Gallery 109's site gives the brick-and-mortar gallery a basic, but beautiful internet presence with a simple shopping cart.

Nickel Creek

Official Site of Grammy-winning band. This 2008 revamp of my earlier design is media-rich, including a video scroller and music player  The band is on hiatus but the site, which uses a customized pro template over the latest Joomla content management system, gives fans an ongoing Nickel Creek experience while introducing them to the individual members' newer projects.

Sweet B Studio

This design reflects the gently madcap nature of the artist's homemade cards and drawings.   To keep costs down, I lightly customized a free Wordpress theme.

Mumbo Gumbo

This funky, fun band from California's site uses a customized template over Joomla's original content management system and features a custom music player, a guestbook, a customized gig calendar with an RSS feed and more. The band can update this site through a front-end log in process.

Jennifer Fairbanks, Artist

Jennifer is an award-winning artist whose work has been showcased at galleries in the US and Europe.  I kept costs down by choosing a simple but elegant professional Joomla template that could be used "off the rack" without customization.  Its simplicity keeps the focus where it should be--on the art.  Jennifer's site features several galleries and a blog.

Newfound Road

The award-winning bluegrass band has been my client for a number of years, and this is their 2009 redesign in honor of their Same Old Place release.  It features an easy-to-update tour calendar, guestbook and a simple merchandise page that integrates to a Paypal shopping cart using paypal buttons.  This uses a highly customized pro template and is powered by Joomla's excellent content management system.

Sara Watkins

Nonesuch recording artist and former member of the Grammy-winning band Nickel Creek, Sara Watkins needed a site to showcase latest tourdates, latest news, and advertise her new album.  The site includes an easy-to-update calendar, photo gallery, music player, and message board.  It also imports Sara's latest "tweets".  The site uses a customized pro template and the latest Joomla content management system.

Farmsies

The photographer/artist wanted a one-page site to which she could steer wholesalers who might be interested in carrying her line of farm-themed baby bibs and onesies.  A blend of stock photography and her own pictures came together for her site, and inspiration struck for her new logo as well!  The site uses a customized pro template and is powered by the latest Joomla content management system, so it is ready to be expanded at any time.
